Oh, the kidneys... my poor Amber kitty is in the same place, but hanging on. It's hard when they say they're old, isn't it? I felt like, what are you talking about?

What a beautiful fuzzy kitty! So sorry you're so far away, that's tough.

Wil Wheaton just lost two cats over the past few months. It is a tramatic experience. I've owned cats ever since the second grade (I'm 36 now), and it is quite sad when one passes away. I have two cats now, one 5 and one 9. It will be quite tramatic when the oldest goes, but hopefully I have a lot of time left.

Hang in there. We can all empathize.

I had a dog who was the most important thing in the world to me. He was sixteen and for a few years, he could barely walk or anything and my mom wanted to put him to sleep but didn't. I used to beg him not to die, but one night I saw how much he was suffering and told him he could leave because I couldn't watch it anymore. Two days later, I was going to visit my friend at school and he walked me to the door. When I got to my friend's college, right after I called my mom to tell her that I got there ok, she called back about 10 minutes later saying when she hung up, my dog fell over on the patio right at my favorite spot in the world where we would sit and read all day and he died.
I think the bond between pets and their owners is deeper than some people could ever imagine.

My cats didn't like to die of old age. They used to find the highway to die, as outdoor cats tend to do.

I'm sorry for you, hon. You're so lucky to have had a companion growing up together for so long. The sweet memories will stay with you on the rest of your growing.
